Sermons on 1 Timothy
Women have made significant advances in society in the last 100 years, rising to lead business, government, and military positions. Should the church adapt or hold fast to its traditions regarding women? How does scripture speak about their leadership in the ministry of the local church? The answer is a little complicated.
In Acts 6 the church faced a problem due to its growth that could have fractured it. How the Apostles handled it became an example for commissioning leaders.
As our church grows and matures there is an expectation that leaders are being grown and matured. We are in a place of prayer and discernment as a congergation to build a Elders Team. Is there someone that comes to mind repeatedly that needs to be considered?
Discontentment can be dangerous. When you become aware of what other people don’t have, you become less driven by what you don’t have. Godliness (living out His way) plus contentment (happiness with what you have) equals great gain( enough for yourself).
Greed in the lives of others looks really bad. But often we don’t realize it is in our own hearts too. Jesus has some good things to say about our desires that are never satisfied.
