From the beginning we’ve desired to be a church that is firmly rooted in our community. What better way to be in the community than to do something in the backyard? The week of July 11 we partnered with Child Evangelism Fellowship to host a back-yard Bible camp each today. We had tremendous response from the kids in the community and even met some new faces.
Each day the kids learned a scripture, heard a Bible lesson, listened to a missionary story, and enjoyed some good play time. We’re incredibly grateful to the CEF team who worked hard and loved on the kids.
One of the new faces we met this week was a young man who’d been discussing with his grandmother about becoming a Christian. Throughout the week we had some good conversations and he made a decision to follow Jesus. On Sunday, July 13, his family and some of our Redland Hills family gather at the Gunn pool to baptize him. It was a special moment that we could all see God’s hand in. It is always special when kids have a heart for Jesus and to live for him. Statistically, a huge percentage of Christians in America make a decision for Jesus before they turn 18. Let’s not forget how important each moment with our children is and how critical each Bible school teacher is in their spiritual development. As a church we have a team of people who are working hard to develop a process and select curriculum to help our kids grow in Christ. Let’s keep them in prayer.
