In just 4 weeks I’ll be stepping aside for rest, renewal, and refilling the tank. If you are new to RHC, you can read all about this in my first post and second post. Your support and encouragement have been such a blessing to me. Thank you.
Sunday, December 24, in our morning assembly, we will recognize the beginning of this next season for me and the gift of rest I am being given. The candlelight service will be an emotional service to carry with me during these next few months. If you will be out of town that Sunday, stop by the church so I can say “Merry Christmas” before I’ll be away for a while.
Who will be preaching while you are gone?
This is the number one question I am asked these days. We’ve tried to put together a great lineup that will be a gift to you. In fact, I am jealous I won’t be in the room to hear them as well!
Dec 31: Will Miller, Student Pastor at RHC
Jan 7: Tony Tripi, one of our own at RHC. Tony has served as a pastor and church planter, along with working at John Maxwell’s organization in training Christian leaders.
Jan 14: Dr. John Ed Matthison. A Montgomery legend, for 36 years John Ed served as the senior pastor at Frazer Church in Montgomery, which grew from 400 to 9,000 during his leadership.
Jan 21: Mark Jackson. After serving as a high school teacher and coach, Mark serve with Fellowship of Christian Athletes for 13 years. Most recently he was an associate pastor at Mulder Church here in Redland and loves this community.
Jan 28: Tod Vogt. As Executive Director of Mission Alive, a church planting ministry, Tod was in on the planning of Redland Hills from the very beginning. He’ll be in town to celebrate the church’s 10th birthday.
February 11: Jerome Dees. As one of our Elders, Jerome will speak with insight into the heart of this church. He has served in the Air Force and is a professor at Jones School of Law.
February 18: Buddy Bell. One of the greatest ministry influences in my life, I worked under Buddy’s leadership as my lead minister for 15 years. Buddy helped me get my first ministry job and has been a cheerleader for me. He is a dynamic preacher and mentor.
March 17: Doug & Ann Vogel. On this special Sunday the Vogel’s will share their testimony and be interviewed about their journey in Christ and in life. It will be an encouraging story from one of our Elders.
We have a couple of other surprises in store we’ll be sharing soon. Most of all, I hope during this time you lean in, not out. While I’m focusing on my own renewal, I’m praying it will be a time of growth for all of you. Our Elders and Staff are ready to continue to lead and minister in these coming months.
I will return on Easter Sunday, March 31, for a big celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. I’m already excited for that day. But I’m even more excited for this next season of ministry at Redland Hills that will come out of this renewal. Let’s finish these next 4 weeks of 2023 strong and get ready for an exciting 2024!
